Overview
- Trials will run on the Virar–Dahanu Road section of Western Railway to allow sustained higher-speed testing under controlled conditions.
- Two MRVC Phase‑II AC EMU variants will be assessed: Bombardier propulsion up to 110 km/h and Medha systems up to 105 km/h.
- Emergency braking distance and coupler force measurements will validate stopping performance and longitudinal loads for longer formations.
- Western Railway issued clearances in December and has been tasked with ensuring rake readiness and appropriate loading to reflect real operations.
- Results will guide regulatory clearance and the MUTP capacity‑expansion roadmap, with procurement and infrastructure upgrades expected to span years.
