RDSO Set to Start Safety Trials on Bengaluru Metro Pink Line Elevated Stretch

The safety checks will decide if the line is ready for the next regulatory clearances.

Overview

  • The 7.53 km Kalena Agrahara–Tavarekere segment is slated to enter RDSO trials by the end of March, with testing expected to run for about two weeks.
  • RDSO, the national rail standards body, will assess braking, speed, track geometry, oscillation, signalling integration and power systems under load.
  • After trials, BMRCL must secure a Railway Board technical sanction, followed by a final inspection from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety before riders can board.
  • BMRCL is targeting a mid-2026 opening for the elevated section, with multiple outlets citing May, and it plans to finish the 13 km underground Dairy CircleNagawara stretch by December 2026.
  • BEML is supplying 318 CBTC-equipped cars under a ₹3,000 crore contract, enabling future driverless operations once the system is fully commissioned.
