RCMP Charge Three After CBSA Seizes Forged Passports at Peace Bridge

The case grew out of a secondary inspection after a wrong turn at the Fort Erie crossing that exposed suspected identity and financial fraud.

CBSA officers, aided by a detector dog team, found six forged Canadian passports, document‑production equipment, about $24,000 in cash, roughly 84 credit, debit and gift cards, and drug paraphernalia during the March 12 secondary exam.
The RCMP’s Niagara-on-the-Lake Border Integrity Unit charged Domenico Cherubini, 51, of Granby, Que., Minh Nguyen, 40, of Montreal, and Christian Ndizeye, 33, of Montreal under Criminal Code sections 368(1), 342(1) and 380(1)(a).
CBSA arrested the three individuals at the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie and seized the items as evidence before the RCMP assumed the investigation.
Authorities say the travellers were returning to Canada when they were referred for the check after taking a wrong turn toward the United States span.
Officials highlighted frontline vigilance and inter-agency cooperation in the operation, and the public was encouraged to report suspicious cross-border activity to the CBSA Border Watch Line.
