Overview
- The Reserve Bank of India’s March 2026 calendar confirms 11 RBI-notified closure days, on top of Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.
- Holi-related shutdowns include March 2 in Kanpur and Lucknow, March 3 in cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad, and March 4 across capitals including New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh.
- Eid-ul-Fitr observances close branches on March 20 in Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada, and on March 21 across a wider set including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Bengaluru.

- Mahavir Jayanti shuts branches on March 31 in major centres including New Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata, while today, Feb 28, branches are closed nationwide as it is the fourth Saturday; bank unions continue to press for a five-day week with a 40-minute weekday extension proposal.
