- Rapido said it received the five-year cab aggregator licence under the Karnataka On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, and the permit runs through August 2031.
- The company has been inducted into Karnataka’s Urban Mobility Mission to coordinate on commuter access, technology integration, safety and service reliability with the transport department.
- Rapido reports operations across 21 Karnataka cities and company figures show more than 3.14 lakh captains, about 2.04 crore registered customers and over 69 lakh users who have taken its cab rides in the state.
- The licence secures regulatory predictability for Rapido’s cab business and for drivers and commuters, but the firm’s original bike-taxi service remains legally uncertain because the Karnataka government has flagged passenger safety, insurance and women’s safety concerns to the Supreme Court.
- Rapido has strengthened its capital and product mix after a May funding round and the launch of services such as the Ownly food-delivery product, and the new licence could help scaling in Karnataka even as unresolved bike-taxi rules may limit parts of future expansion.
