Rally Driver Disqualified for Sexually Inappropriate Conduct Toward Female Scrutineer
Breach of the FIA sporting code led stewards to end his event entry, leaving possible championship-level sanctions.
Overview
- During a routine post-stage safety inspection after Special Stage 6 at the Royal Rally of Scandinavia, driver Róbert Kolčák asked a female scrutineer if she wanted to see his genitals and then grabbed his genital area while a second female official watched.
- The Clerk of the Course reported the incident, the two scrutineers confirmed their accounts to stewards, and a hearing was held with Kolčák, his co-driver and his team manager where Kolčák admitted the comments and gesture.
- Stewards ruled the behaviour breached Articles 12.2.1.f and 12.2.1.l of the 2026 International Sporting Code and imposed a full disqualification that ends Kolčák’s participation in the event.
- The stewards said the conduct was especially serious because it targeted a female official carrying out safety checks and they rejected explanations such as adrenaline or not recognising the official as mitigating factors.
- Females in Motorsport condemned the conduct and offered support to the scrutineer, and Kolčák’s Instagram explanation and later apology have not yet prevented the possibility of further championship-level sanctions.
