Rain-Forced Reshuffle at Knockhill Sees Brookes Top Practice

Organisers moved pre-qualifying to Saturday, changing the route into Q2 and leaving teams to use limited wet running to set up for qualifying and Race 1.

Overview

  • Wet Friday at Knockhill left Josh Brookes fastest on the combined free-practice times, with his 51.335s putting him 0.188s clear of Fraser Rogers and the top 19 riders covered by just 0.921s.
  • After a late Friday track inspection, series director Stuart Higgs confirmed that FP3 was moved to Saturday morning and pre-qualifying was rescheduled into the original FP3 slot to cope with the heavy rain.
  • When pre-qualifying ran on Saturday morning, Kyle Ryde topped the session with a 47.436s lap to take one of the direct spots toward Q2.
  • FP3 later on Saturday was led by Bradley Ray, updating the practice order ahead of Q1, Q2 and Race 1 and highlighting how session-specific wet setups have shuffled the pecking order.
  • The short Knockhill layout magnifies small gaps, so the weather-driven schedule change and cautious programmes from several title contenders increase the chance of a mixed grid and altered race strategies once conditions change.
