Overview
- The Railway Ministry, in letters sent Friday to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, sanctioned a new Kolkata–Jaipur express, doubling of the New Jalpaiguri–Siliguri line, and a survey for a third track between Salboni and Adra.
- The Kolkata–Jaipur service will run between Santragachi and Khatipura as train numbers 18061 and 18062 via Kharagpur.
- Eastern Railway announced a new Berhampore Court–Lalgola EMU local and extended the Krishnapur–Cossimbazar local up to Lalgola in the Sealdah Division.
- In Odisha, the ministry approved a tri-weekly Puri–Koraput express and set a 2027 completion target for the Khurda Road–Balangir line as projects worth nearly Rs 90,000 crore move ahead.
- Odisha is projected to handle about 500 more trains once new lines and upgrades finish, with 59 stations being rebuilt under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a nationwide station modernisation program.
