Overview
- Surrey confirmed the return of India leg-spinner Rahul Chahar in an announcement Thursday for an eight-match stint to close the 2026 County Championship season.
- He will join after completing the IPL with Chennai Super Kings and is set to start on June 7 at The Oval against Hampshire.
- Chahar’s only Surrey appearance came in September 2025 when he took 10 wickets in the match, including 8 for 51, surpassing William Mudie’s 1859 debut mark of 7 for 61.
- Chahar said he jumped at the chance to come back after speaking with Director of Cricket Alec Stewart, who praised the bowler’s impact and backed him to help win games.
- He has seven white-ball caps for India, 101 first-class wickets, and was bought by CSK for INR 5.20 crore for IPL 2026 before his county stint.
