Rafa Mir on Trial After Woman Testified He Sexually Assaulted Her in Bétera

Prosecutors are seeking roughly ten years in prison and other sanctions and the court will hear more witnesses and forensic experts before deciding.

Overview

  • The alleged incidents occurred after the group met in a Valencia nightclub and went to Rafa Mir’s Bétera home on the night of 31 August 2024, according to prosecution filings and witness accounts.
  • A woman told the Audiencia Provincial de València that Mir groped her in the pool and later forced digital penetration in a bathroom, and a second woman testified that Pablo Jara made unwanted sexual contact and struck her.
  • The Fiscalía has asked for about 10 to 10.5 years in prison for Mir and roughly three years for Jara, plus orders barring contact, restrictions on work with minors, freedom-surveillance and monetary compensation reported between €64,000 and €74,000.
  • Mir’s defence says the encounters were consensual and seeks acquittal; Mir has disputed the accounts and will be allowed to testify later in the hearing.
  • The court is considering requests to hold parts of the trial behind closed doors to protect the victims and will hear police, security and forensic experts next as the hearing continues and the outcome remains pending.
