Overview
- The Fundación Cante de las Minas awarded Rafa del Calli the Lámpara Minera, the festival’s top prize, together with the main €15,000 purse.
- Del Calli also received special trophies and cash awards for his cantiña (€2,000), malagueña (€3,000) and mineras (€6,000).
- He prevailed over finalists Bernardo Miranda, Isabel María, Sebastián Cruz and Isco Heredia in the festival final.
- Other winners at the 65th Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas included Lucía La Bronce with the Desplante for dance, Pablo Barrionuevo with the toque prize, and Karlos Nao with the Filón award.
- Del Calli described himself as tired but very happy, called his approach studious and orthodox with a personal stamp on the cantes, and said the dual trophies give a major boost to his career opportunities.
