RAAF Accepts First MC-55A Peregrine Into Service

The G550-based platform will fly with 10 Squadron from RAAF Base Edinburgh after delivery via a U.S. foreign military sales program.

Overview

  • The aircraft was formally welcomed to Australia in late January and is intended to deliver real-time threat warning and intelligence to support ADF missions.
  • L3Harris missionized the Gulfstream G550 airframe, completing integration and mission-system testing with the U.S. Air Force before transfer.
  • Follow-on Peregrine aircraft remain with the USAF to support RAAF training and pre-delivery preparations.
  • The capability will slot into Australia’s ISR enterprise, complementing P-8A Poseidon and MQ-4C Triton fleets and enabling intelligence sharing with the United States and United Kingdom.
  • L3Harris has established an in-country field service team and plans ongoing software and hardware upgrades to sustain and evolve the system.
