Quilmes Jewelry Heist Suspect Arrested in Wilde After Months-Long Search

Investigators say the 32-year-old was identified on security video as the fake customer who opened the door for the gunmen.

Overview

  • Police from the Quilmes DDI arrested Matías Alejandro Almirón, 32, in Wilde, Avellaneda, following covert surveillance near a relative’s home.
  • He is accused of aggravated robbery committed in a populated area and in a gang with the use of a firearm.
  • Officers seized a fake national ID with his photo but another person’s data, prompting a federal case, and authorities report a lengthy criminal record including vehicle theft, illegal gun possession and drug offenses.
  • The July 8, 2025 robbery in central San Francisco Solano involved one suspect feigning disability in a wheelchair, threats with firearms, assaults on customers, theft of gold and silver jewelry, watches and cash, and a getaway in a silver Toyota Corolla.
  • Earlier raids in August 2025 at addresses in Florencio Varela, Almirante Brown and Buenos Aires did not locate the suspect, and UFI No. 3 of Quilmes with the Guarantees Court No. 3 continues efforts to identify and detain the remaining accomplices.
