Overview
- Queen Camilla will present a specially made Roo to the New York Public Library during the royal state visit, with the King and Queen due to arrive Monday for four days.
- Merrythought, the historic British toymaker behind Christopher Robin’s original bears, produced the new Roo using the classic E. H. Shepard illustrations as the model.
- The replacement toy is being held at Buckingham Palace and will travel with the Queen on the royal plane to New York.
- The itinerary includes talks with President Donald Trump and a White House state banquet, and UK ministers say security for the monarch is being taken very seriously after a recent attack in Washington.
- Brought together again are Winnie, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger and Kanga, with Roo returning in replica after the original was lost in an apple orchard in the 1930s, and the library says the gift will help introduce new readers to the stories.
