Qualcomm Confirms 5GHz Oryon CPU and New FlexCache for Next Snapdragon Flagship

The company says a fully custom 2+6 core design with a shared, dynamic cache will keep larger working sets on-chip to boost real-world performance.

  • Independent leaks claim a top-tier part (SM8975) may be fabricated on TSMC’s 2nm node and list per-core clock numbers, but those process and frequency details are unconfirmed by Qualcomm.
  • Early prototype Geekbench and AnTuTu listings for devices said to use the new chip have produced lower-than-expected scores versus the current Gen 5, and outlets note those results may change after silicon tuning, thermal limits, and software optimization.
