Overview
- Hanwha Qcells announced on Friday that it will serve as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) lead for all 14 projects inside the Atlas Energy Park in La Paz County, Arizona.
- The complex is planned to deliver 2.8 gigawatts of solar capacity and 5.7 gigawatt-hours of energy storage across 63.66 square kilometers by 2028.
- Qcells will supply all solar modules for the park and has a signed agreement with LG Energy Solution to deliver 4.8 gigawatt-hours of batteries by October for installation at the site.
- In May the company sold two completed solar farms inside the park totaling 357 megawatts, a move the firm says illustrates its strategy to develop, build and monetize assets.
- Qcells hopes the project will leverage its U.S. Solar Hub manufacturing and a growing North American pipeline (about 11 GW solar and 6 GWh storage) to meet rising demand from data centers and to reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.
