Qantas Unveils Lie-Flat Business Suites for A321XLR Narrowbodies

Overview

• Qantas revealed a 1-1 angled herringbone Business Suite for its A321XLRs that gives every passenger a lie-flat bed and a sliding privacy door on a single-aisle aircraft for the first time.
• Each A321XLR Suite will include a 19-inch entertainment screen, wireless and USB-C charging, fast free WiFi and generous personal storage to support work, dining and sleep.
• The airline confirmed 16 A321XLRs will be fitted with the new Suites and that the first of those aircraft is scheduled to enter the fleet in 2028.
• Qantas also announced an evolved Business Suite for incoming Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners featuring sliding privacy doors and 80-inch lie-flat beds with wider footwells based on ergonomic trials.
• Qantas frames the changes as part of its largest-ever fleet renewal and says premium cabin revenue is growing about twice as fast as economy, a trend that lets the airline open or densify long, thin routes such as transcontinental services to and from Perth.
