Overview
- Qantas, which announced the changes Thursday, will roll out the revised timetable from mid-April to late July to increase Europe capacity.
- The airline will end the direct Perth–Paris route and replace it with a Sydney–Singapore–Paris service operating five times a week that can carry about 60 more passengers per flight.
- Perth–Rome will increase to daily service and Perth–Singapore will rise to 10 flights a week to feed the expanded European network.
- Qantas will redeploy Boeing 787s from US routes and shift Airbus A330s from domestic flying, which removes premium economy on some Brisbane–Los Angeles services and puts more 737s on long domestic legs.
- The shake-up responds to reduced operations at Gulf hubs such as Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi due to the Middle East conflict, with experts warning capacity has tightened and fares may stay high.
