Overview
- The provincial releases for January–March 2026 show modest drops in some areas, with Limpopo recording a roughly 2–2.2% fall in murder and a murder ratio of 3 per 1,000 inhabitants while the Western Cape reported an 8% fall to 983 murders.
- Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia framed the quarter within a broader crisis, saying the national picture still reflects extreme violence at about 58 murders per day.
