PWHL Walter Cup Replica Fails to Arrive for Second Time This Summer

Montreal forward Shiann Darkangelo said the touring Walter Cup replica did not arrive for a Sept. 5 Athleta appearance in Brighton, Michigan, forcing the planned cup meet-and-greet to proceed without the trophy.
This is the second delivery disruption this summer after the replica missed an Aug. 20 stop in Lethbridge and was later located and returned to Montreal around Aug. 24.
The object at issue is a sterling-silver replica that champions keep for tours while the official Walter Cup stays at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
Reporting says the PWHL used the same unnamed shipping company for both moves and the league has not publicly confirmed the replica’s current location or laid out a corrective plan.
The missed appearances have disappointed fans and youth programs, prompted calls for new custody rules such as a dedicated trophy handler or different shippers, and drawn contextual attention to the league’s leadership without suggesting a direct link to the transport failures.
