Punjab’s War Against Drugs Reaches 30,540 Arrests After Statewide Raids

The campaign is steered by a cabinet panel under Harpal Singh Cheema using an Enforcement–De-addiction–Prevention strategy.

Overview

  • Police raided 395 locations on Monday, arresting 81 suspects after registering 59 FIRs across the state.
  • More than 150 teams with over 1,100 personnel conducted the operations under the supervision of 74 gazetted officers.
  • Seizures from the latest raids included 922 grams of heroin, 4 kg of poppy husk, 336 intoxicant tablets or capsules, and drug-linked cash.
  • The tally of arrests since the launch of the campaign has climbed to 30,540 over 205 days.
  • Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann directed senior police and administrative officials to intensify efforts to make the state drug-free.
