Punjab Updates List of Banned Groups, Says Donors Face Terror Charges

Authorities instruct the public to give only to Punjab Charity Commission–registered organisations verified by QR code.

Overview

  • Under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, any financial or material support to proscribed or unregistered entities is a criminal offense.
  • The updated notice names roughly 90 organisations, including Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan.
  • Several groups operating as welfare fronts are declared unlawful, such as Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation, Al Rehmat Trust, Al Furqan Trust and Al Akhtar Trust.
  • The complete roster is posted on the Punjab Home Department and NACTA websites, with reporting lines 0800-11111 and 042-99213871 for fundraising or suspicious activity.
  • Registration can be verified at any time via the Punjab Charity Commission WhatsApp number 0313-4995564 using the QR code on charity certificates.
