Overview
- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Friday that the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna will begin direct cash disbursements from July 1, 2026.
- Most eligible women will get Rs 1,000 a month while women in the Scheduled Caste category will receive Rs 1,500 a month.
- The state expects about 97% of Punjab's women to benefit with a target pool of 52 lakh women and 36 lakh scheme cards already issued during ongoing registration drives.
- Eligibility requires women to be 18 or older, registered voters in Punjab with a Punjab-linked Aadhaar, and the scheme excludes regular or retired government employees, elected MLAs or MPs, and spouses of serving ministers or legislators.
- Payments will be sent by direct bank transfer, women on existing social security pensions can still receive benefits, and officials have deployed about two lakh Mahila Satkar Sakhis to complete enrolment which will determine near-term fiscal and delivery pressures.
