Punjab Targets Export of 1 Million Livestock After Signing Seven MoUs

Officials say the push will build export‑grade capacity through new processing, mechanised farms and wider veterinary care.

Overview

  • Punjab announced a livestock export drive with seven new MoUs, including a Chinese partner, and set a one‑million‑animal goal with quotas for 300,000 company purchases, 300,000 buffalo and cattle to be fattened, 300,000 sheep and rams to be fattened, and 100,000 goats and sheep to be reared.
  • A Chinese meat company will install a boiler unit with the Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company to produce boiled meat for export at scale.
  • The province will introduce farm mechanisation for the first time with subsidies up to 60% on milk chillers, mixing machines, can coolers, weighing scales and feed mixers.
  • Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered a veterinary hospital in every tehsil and four mobile dispensaries per tehsil to bring livestock care to villages.
  • To meet export rules, officials plan to tag two million animals and subsidise two million breeding doses, and the government doubled the free‑livestock quota for rural women after giving 9,255 animals to widows and divorced women in 12 South Punjab districts.
