Overview
- Punjab and Sindh set their summer breaks Monday, with Punjab closing May 22–Aug 23 and Sindh fixing June 1–July 31.
- Officials said the closures protect students from forecast heatwaves, dust storms, strong winds, flash floods and urban flooding cited by the Met Office and Punjab’s disaster authority.
- Four major private school associations rejected Punjab’s 90-day break and said they will challenge it in the Lahore High Court’s principal seat and benches in Rawalpindi, Multan and Bahawalpur.
- Punjab’s notification, signed by School Education Secretary Muddasir Riaz Malik, directs all public and private schools to follow the schedule and to share homework and reopening plans with families.
- Private leaders warned of learning loss and higher dropouts and urged shorter holidays, early‑morning classes or limited camps for exam grades.
