Punjab Police Probe Coordinated Attacks on BJP Offices

BJP leaders blame AAP for orchestrating the vandalism.

Overview

  • Several BJP offices across Punjab were targeted Monday, with incidents reported in Tarn Taran, Zirakpur, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Batala.
  • In Tarn Taran, witnesses said 15 to 20 youths stormed the office, splashed ink, pelted stones and fired shots into the air, and no injuries were reported.
  • In Ludhiana, ink was thrown at BJP leaders outside the Police Commissionerate after a party protest over policing, which raised fresh safety concerns near a high-security site.
  • Police said they have registered cases, pulled CCTV footage and sent senior officers to the sites, and Zirakpur investigators said five masked men were booked after video placed them at the BJP office.
  • Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar accused AAP of a planned campaign and linked the incidents to recent ED money-laundering raids, while AAP figures in Ludhiana said their protest was peaceful and blamed BJP workers for provocation.
