Punjab Police CCD Kills Six Alleged Dacoits in Three Encounters

Police say the raids recovered weapons and a motorcycle and will keep hunting fleeing accomplices as criticism grows over CCD tactics after a child was killed in a recent operation.

Overview

  • Police reported three separate CCD operations that left six alleged dacoits dead and several suspects at large in Chiniot, Muridke and near the FaisalabadPindi Bhattian Bridge.
  • In Bhawana Tehsil, officers say three suspects died after their accomplices opened fire during a recovery operation and the suspects were later found dead from gunshot wounds.
  • Near Rana Town in Muridke, two men identified as Umar Maqbool alias Kaka and Faisal were killed in a shootout while three other suspects escaped, and police said they recovered weapons and a motorcycle.
  • At the FaisalabadPindi Bhattian Bridge, CCD officials said a wanted man, Kashif alias Kashi, was killed; authorities allege he was linked to more than 50 cases and had previously wounded two Dolphin Force officers.
  • The operations follow public outrage over a Chakwal incident in which nine-year-old Hania was killed, and reporting so far rests mainly on police accounts with no independent verification or announced inquiry results.
