Punjab Police Bust Cross-Border Drug Cell as Statewide Raids Net 84 Suspects

  • Police arrested three operatives linked to foreign handlers and seized 4.083 kg of methamphetamine (ICE) and 1.032 kg of heroin, along with a car, a scooter and Rs 2,500.
  • The suspects were identified as Balwinder Singh alias Binder, Navtej Singh and Mahabir Singh, all from AmritsarTarn Taran belt, according to DGP Gaurav Yadav.
  • Investigators detailed recoveries of 2.077 kg ICE tied to Balwinder, 2.006 kg ICE tied to Navtej with a Doha contact, and 1.032 kg heroin tied to Mahabir linked to drone drops.
  • Three FIRs under the NDPS Act were registered on December 5, 7 and 9 as probes trace backward and forward linkages, drone routes and overseas handlers.
  • In a concurrent sweep on Wednesday, police raided 339 locations statewide, arrested 84 alleged traffickers after 70 FIRs, and reported cumulative 284‑day arrests rising to 39,984.
