Punjab Logs 1,421 Road Crashes in 24 Hours, 762 Seriously Injured

Officials urged stricter traffic-law enforcement to curb the surge, citing the dominance of motorcycle crashes.

  • Rescue 1122 reported 1,696 people affected in the 24-hour period, including 1,309 men and 387 women.
  • Emergency teams treated 924 people with minor injuries at the scene, while severe cases were moved to district and tehsil hospitals.
  • Motorcycles made up about 76% of the incidents, with 1,487 bikes involved alongside 206 cars, 92 autorickshaws, 33 vans, 16 buses, 39 trucks and 84 other vehicles.
  • The monitoring cell counted 890 drivers, 65 underage drivers, 612 passengers and 194 pedestrians among those affected.
  • Lahore registered 246 accident calls with 297 people affected, followed by Multan with 90 accidents and 93 affected, and Faisalabad with 84 accidents and 88 affected.
