Punjab Gangster Amritpal Singh Detained at Moldova Border on Interpol Red Notice

Extradition proceedings are underway following months of coordination with MEA, CBI, Interpol.

  • Punjab Police said Amritpal Singh, alias Amrit Dalam, was held on the Moldova border after Interpol issued a Red Notice at their request in coordination with central agencies.
  • The fugitive is linked to the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria network and is wanted in multiple serious cases in Punjab, including extortion, murder, attempted murder and drug smuggling.
  • Officials reported he was intercepted at the Planca–MayakyUdobne checkpoint in Moldova while allegedly trying to enter Ukraine after movements tracked from Sharjah and Turkey.
  • Legal and diplomatic steps are in progress to secure his extradition or deportation to India so he can face pending cases, according to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
