Punjab Finalizes Year-Long Roadmap for Guru Ravidas’s 650th Parkash Purb

A cabinet panel set a statewide plan focused on pilgrim routes, youth outreach, community service ahead of 2027.

Overview

  • Chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, a cabinet sub-committee finalized a month-wise, statewide roadmap with a stated goal of taking the commemorations to a global scale.
  • Four Shobha Yatras will set out from Varanasi, Faridkot, Jammu and Bathinda before converging at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, a site revered as the saint’s tap asthan.
  • The plan facilitates pilgrim visits to the Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Janam Sathan Mandir at Seer Govardhanpur in Varanasi.
  • Educational outreach will include seminars across schools, colleges and universities, complemented by district-level drone shows and documentary screenings in villages.
  • Social and environmental measures feature a plantation drive of 6.5 lakh saplings per district along with blood donation camps, marathons, cycle rallies and grand kirtan samagams.
