Punjab Deploys 30,000 Police for Christmas and Quaid-e-Azam Day Security

Sensitivity-based church tiers with continuous Safe Cities surveillance underpin the operation.

Overview

  • More than 30,000 personnel are assigned across Punjab to protect over 2,900 churches and other public sites.
  • Lahore will field 5,000+ officers for security at 600+ Christian places of worship, with 1,000+ detailed for Quaid-e-Azam Day programmes.
  • Churches are categorized by risk level with 142 in Category A, 291 in Category B, and more than 2,500 in Category C to guide deployments.
  • Safe Cities Authority cameras provide continuous monitoring as commandos and snipers reinforce protection at sensitive locations.
  • Dolphin Squad, PRU, Elite Police, CTD and Special Branch lead patrols and interventions, flag marches and search-and-sweep operations are underway, women officers conduct female checks, and the IGP has ordered RPOs and DPOs to maintain high alert including at parks, recreational sites, embassies and other installations.
