Pune Metro Starts Building 4.7-Km Double-Decker Corridor on Nagar Road

The stacked design targets chronic congestion by placing Metro stations above a six-lane elevated road.

Overview

  • The new stretch runs 4.7 km from Ramwadi to Tuljabhavani Nagar and marks Pune’s third double-decker Metro-flyover project.
  • The first level is a six-lane flyover with a minimum 5.5-metre clearance, and the structure allows future widening to eight lanes.
  • Four stations are planned along the route: Viman Nagar, Somnathnagar, Kharadi Bypass and Tuljabhavani.
  • The corridor will link with the proposed line at Kharadi Bypass and a Viman Nagar spur intended to connect to Pune Airport.
  • Pune Metro says work will be sequenced to avoid disrupting existing roads, railways and utilities, as part of the Vanaz–Ramwadi corridor expansion approved last year.
