Pune Crime Branch Raids 'Project X' Party, Detains 156

The raid has resulted in roughly 78 people being booked, organisers questioned, seized materials sent for forensic and excise examination.

Overview

  • Officers surrounded and entered a Tulapur bungalow and, in the early hours of Sunday, June 7, found 156 people at an unauthorised late-night event including three attendees below the legal drinking age of 21.
  • Police seized about three grams of ganja, three hookah pots with 10 banned flavoured products and a liquor stock valued at roughly ₹9.22 lakh, with total seized property estimated at about ₹85 lakh.
  • Investigators have identified principal organisers — Aiman Sheikh (Blaze Entertainment) and Yash Chaudhary (Star Light Entertainment) — and are questioning them over permissions, venue use and supply chains.
  • Lonikand police have processed attendees, sent a group for medical and forensic testing for drug use and have booked about 78 people under a mix of excise, NDPS, juvenile and public-order provisions.
  • The operation follows stepped-up enforcement on illegal liquor and late-night parties after recent poisoning cases, and police say their probe will examine the venue owner, liquor suppliers and any wider links.
