Pulicat Flamingo Festival Set for Jan. 10–11 With Expanded Eco-Tourism, Security Measures

Officials say robust measures will manage crowds to protect wetlands.

  • The two-day event will run Saturday and Sunday across Nelapattu, Attakanithippa, BV Palem, Ubbalamadugu waterfalls and Irukkam Island, featuring birdwatching, boating, paragliding and hot‑air balloons.
  • Free buses will operate from Nelapattu, Sullurpeta and BV Palem, with traffic controls plus CCTV and drone monitoring to manage large crowds.
  • BNHS will conduct a two-day biodiversity workshop at Sri City, and Sri City partners will host CSR-led stalls and interactive sessions.
  • About 6,000 school students will take government-funded guided visits to learn about birdlife and wetland conservation.
  • Officials expect attendance to exceed last year’s 3–4 lakh visitors, with state ministers Anagani Satyaprasad, Kandula Durgesh and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy slated to attend the inauguration.
