Overview
- The recall covers only 10-ounce GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries with lot code 60401 and a best-by date of Feb. 9, 2028 and the supplier instructed recipients to remove that lot from distribution on July 3.
- Publix sold the affected packages in stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
- Public-health notices link 12 confirmed infections of E. coli O145:H28 to the product, with illnesses reported between May 11 and June 5.
- Consumers should not eat the berries and are advised to discard them or return them to Publix for a full refund; Publix recommends discarding packs bought on or before July 3, 2026 and the supplier has provided a phone and email for questions.
- E. coli O145 is a Shiga toxin–producing strain that can cause severe stomach cramps and bloody diarrhea and can lead to kidney failure in young children, older adults and people with weak immune systems, and regulators are conducting traceback and testing that could expand the investigation if broader contamination is found.
