Provincial EPH Data Show Low Unemployment but Rising Hunt for Extra Work

Rising living costs are pushing employed Argentines to look for more hours.

  • INDEC’s Q3 2025 total-urban data put national unemployment at 6.3% with 19.3 million employed and 20.6 million economically active, as subemployment registered 10.8%.
  • Córdoba’s total-urban unemployment fell to 5%, improving from 6.4% a year earlier, while 21.2% of the economically active population were employed people actively seeking another job and subemployment reached 12.5%.
  • Mendoza combined 5.4% unemployment with greater labor strain, including 14% subemployment, 11.2% subemployment-demanding, and 18.7% of employed residents searching for another job, equal to about 151,000 people.
  • Jujuy’s unemployment dropped to 3.9%, yet 18.7% of those employed were jobseekers and subemployment stood at 10.4%, underscoring pressures not captured by the headline rate.
  • Income data showed an average main-occupation income of $944,855 and an average salary of $800,000 in Q3 2025, while the January 2026 basic basket for a family of four reached $1,360,299.
