- Federal prosecutors asked the Dresden Higher Regional Court for a four-year prison sentence for Susann E., who is charged with supporting a terrorist organization and aiding an aggravated armed robbery.
- Prosecutors told the court that Susann E. lent identity documents and a health insurance card to Beate Zschäpe and helped with the rental of the motorhome used in a 2011 NSU robbery.
- The prosecution argued those acts materially eased Zschäpe’s life in hiding and noted gifts the NSU gave Susann and her husband as signs of close ties to the cell.
- The defendant remained silent at trial and the defense will give its closing plea next Thursday before the court issues a verdict on July 17.
- The case is part of ongoing efforts to hold people beyond the three core NSU members accountable for a string of racially motivated murders and bombings that were exposed after the pair Mundlos and Böhnhardt died in 2011.
