Prosecutors Seek Detention for Two Suspects in Antisemitic Pig’s Head Case at Nice Mayor’s Home

Surveillance evidence led investigators to two Tunisian nationals now set to face a judge as motives are examined.

  • On February 27 around 11:30 p.m., a severed pig’s head and an antisemitic poster bearing Christian Estrosi’s image were found attached to the gate of his Nice residence.
  • The suspects, Tunisian men born in 1988 and 1990 and domiciled in the Paris region, were arrested in Nice and in Seine‑et‑Marne, with one detained on March 4 while photographing the mayor in the city center.
  • CCTV footage captured a black‑clad individual placing the items, investigators traced a vehicle, and authorities say up to four people may have been involved.
  • Searches seized numerous phones, computers and audiovisual equipment, and the pair were referred under counts including aggravated violence against an elected official and fraudulent access to an automated data system.
