Overview
- Milwaukee County prosecutors, who filed charges Tuesday, accused Prinston Underwood of first-degree intentional homicide and charged Darrin Sutton with possessing a firearm as a felon.
- The conflict began Friday during a child pickup, when Dennis Johnson stopped to calm an argument outside a home on North 12th Street, according to the criminal complaint.
- As Johnson drove away with Sutton and two children, Sutton and Underwood exchanged gunfire, and police later found seven .40-caliber casings where Underwood had been standing.
- Underwood then chased the Jeep in a white GMC Yukon and allegedly fired once through an open passenger window at Teutonia and Chambers, striking Johnson, who died at the scene.
- If convicted, Underwood faces a mandatory life sentence while Sutton faces up to 10 years in prison, and the complaint notes both have prior felonies and that two children were in Johnson’s car.
