Prosecutor Details Case Against Michigan Wrestling Ref Accused of Sending Inappropriate Images to Teen

Prosecutors detailed the case ahead of a Feb. 19 probable-cause hearing for the suspended MHSAA official.

Overview

  • Stephen Livings, 43, of Roseville, was charged with felonies including using a computer to commit a crime and accosting a child for immoral purposes.
  • The prosecutor says Livings approached a high school girl at wrestling events, obtained her social media, added his contact using her phone, and then sent inappropriate messages and images or videos.
  • Warren Police arrested Livings on Dec. 19 after the teen’s parents reported the messages, with the Special Victims Unit leading the investigation assisted by a school resource officer.
  • Livings was arraigned Feb. 6 in 37th District Court, released on a $10,000 personal bond, and is scheduled for a probable-cause conference on Feb. 19.
  • The Michigan High School Athletic Association suspended him immediately; his attorney says he is presumed innocent and will contest the allegations.
