Prosecutor Adds Five Cases Against Ex–Sinai-Grace Nurse in Patient Sexual Assault Probe

Some charges invoke Michigan’s 2023 law on misrepresentation of medical treatment.

Overview

  • Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced five additional cases against Wilfredo Figueroa-Berrios, bringing the total to eight criminal cases tied to multiple patients.
  • The new filings cover alleged assaults from December 2021 to August 2025 at a Livonia psychiatric emergency center and at Detroit’s DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital.
  • Charges include third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and counts under the misrepresentation-of-medical-treatment statute, which carries severe felony penalties.
  • Arraignments were scheduled to begin Jan. 22 for at least some of the new counts, and Figueroa-Berrios remains jailed after failing to post bond in October 2025.
  • Worthy said a 2021 Livonia case resurfaced due to a case-management issue not caused by police, while civil suits grow, including a filing representing 14 former patients and calls for other survivors to contact police or Avalon Healing Center.
