Pritam Kendre Wins Junior 10m Air Rifle World Title

Overview

• Kendre won the men's 10m air rifle final on Sunday with a score of 251.3 to finish ahead of Neutral athlete Timofei Aleinikov and Norway's Jens Oestli.
• He produced 15 shots of 10.5 or above in the final, including two 10.9s and two 10.8s, and rose from sixth in the early elimination series to secure gold.
• Kendre trains at Gagan Narang’s Gun For Glory Academy in Pune under coach Shubham Patil, and his family made long daily commutes and financial sacrifices to support his development.
• Fellow Indian Piyush Sharma reached the final and finished fourth, missing a medal by 0.1 point, while team placing was lost after Abhinav Shaw was disqualified for equipment non-compliance.
• Kendre’s win, achieved in only his second international meet, gave India another gold at the ISSF Junior World Championships and helped lift the country’s reported tally to 11 medals with five golds at the event running through June 26.
