Princess of Wales Completes National Three Peaks to Raise Cancer Charity Funds

She tied a demanding 24-hour mountain challenge to a public push for whole-person cancer care by raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Overview

  • The Princess of Wales completed the National Three Peaks Challenge on Sunday, June 28, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours to raise funds and awareness for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
  • The route covered roughly 37 kilometers with more than 3,000 metres of total ascent, a standard definition of the Three Peaks challenge that tests endurance and speed.
  • In a message posted after the challenge she said cancer “not only affects the body,” argued that recovery requires support beyond medicine, and called for stronger whole-person care that includes emotional and psychological support.
  • She was met at the finish by Prince William, their three children and other family members, and The Royal Marsden’s chief executive, Cally Palmer, said the hospital felt honoured by the couple’s patronage.
  • The effort links the princess’s personal experience—she announced treatment in March 2024 and remission in January 2025—to a bid for more integrated cancer services and to fundraising that could expand access to psychosocial and rehabilitation programs.
