Princess Anne to Make Five‑Day Visit to South Korea and Thailand in July

It marks the 75th Imjin River commemoration and highlights UK ties in trade, science and charity by bringing senior royal engagement to the region.

Overview

  • The Royal Household announced the tour on June 9, confirming Princess Anne and her husband Sir Tim Laurence will travel from July 13 to July 17 for three days in South Korea followed by two days in Thailand.
  • In South Korea the programme centres on the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Imjin River and will include commemorative events to honour British servicemen who fought in the Korean War.
  • The Thailand itinerary includes an audience with the Thai prime minister and Their Majesties the King and Queen, a visit to a Save the Children Thailand school in Bangkok, meetings with female scientists and attendance at a regional health security showcase.
  • The trip is billed as a diplomatic and soft‑power mission to showcase UK–Korea and UKThailand cooperation in maritime manufacturing, advanced technologies, research, education and people‑to‑people links.
  • The visit continues a pattern of high‑level royal engagement in the region, following Anne’s 2018 trip to South Korea and earlier Thai visits in 1972, 1979 and 1987, and builds on recent UK‑Korea exchanges such as a 2023 state visit.
