Overview
- London Fire Brigade was alerted at 9:31am and deployed about 70 firefighters and 10 engines to a single-storey commercial building on Regent’s Park Road, using a 32‑metre turntable ladder as most of a neighbouring property also burned.
- Some lines between London Euston and Watford Junction were blocked, causing cancellations and severe delays for Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway, London Overground and Southern services.
- Long‑distance routes to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow were affected, with some Avanti trains to London reportedly held as far away as Warrington.
- Operators issued ticket acceptance and alternative travel options, and Avanti allowed Friday tickets to be used on Saturday at no extra cost as services were progressively restored by late evening.
- The fire was brought under control early afternoon and the cause remains under investigation, with rail and road restrictions near the Primrose Hill site gradually lifted and residual delays reported.
