‘Primitive War 2’ Set for 2027 as Luke Sparke Returns to Lead Darker Vietnam-Set Sequel

The project has moved into late development with plans to film in Queensland later this year.

Overview

  • The sequel is officially in late development with a target release in 2027.
  • Production plans call for a Queensland, Australia shoot later this year with Sparke’s core Queensland-based crew returning.
  • Producers Carmel Imrie and Carly Sparke are back alongside executive producer Geoff Imrie and co-producer Alex Becconsall through Let It Be Entertainment.
  • Luke Sparke will again write, direct and produce after also serving as editor, production designer and VFX supervisor on the first film, which adapts Ethan Pettus’ novels; Pettus expressed excitement for the follow-up.
  • An official description positions the film as a darker, more grounded war-horror escalation that expands the franchise’s Vietnam-era mythology, following a new U.S. platoon into an unstable valley where containment collapses and rival predators and Cold War agendas converge.
