Prime Accused in Bunty Yadav Killing Shot and Arrested by Patna Police

Police say the capture may provide key forensic evidence with a seized country-made pistol already sent for FSL testing.

Overview

  • Police intercepted and arrested Ravish (alias BC), the prime accused, during an operation on Thursday after a tip that he was returning via the LCT/LNT ghat; officers say he fired at them, was shot in the right leg and taken to PMCH for treatment.
  • Investigators have already arrested five other suspects and recovered mobile phones and cash during earlier raids, and they say the case file will now be strengthened by statements from the newly detained prime accused.
  • Bunty Yadav was abducted near Patna Junction after opposing an alleged sex racket and his body, found days later in Athmalgola, showed multiple injuries consistent with a brutal assault according to the post-mortem report.
  • A country-made pistol recovered at the encounter site was collected by the Forensic Science Laboratory for testing, and officers from DIU, SIU and Kotwali took part in the operation that led to the arrest.
  • An internal police inquiry suspended four personnel for dereliction of duty after finding they failed to detect or respond to the July 6 kidnapping, and prosecutors will now pursue forensic results and further charges linked to alleged illicit liquor and racketeering disputes.
