President Murmu Presides Over First Convocations of Two New Central Universities in Andhra Pradesh

  • President Droupadi Murmu attended the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh convocation in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday and presided over the Central University of Andhra Pradesh ceremony at Janthaluru on Wednesday.
  • The two inaugural convocations will confer degrees to 373 students at CTUAP with 13 gold medals and 1,268 students at CUAP with 56 university gold medals plus eight endowment gold medals.
  • CUAP’s Phase‑I permanent campus at Janthaluru is completed and operational while CTUAP’s permanent campus, about 40 km from Vizianagaram, is roughly 70% finished with an expected move by December 2026.
  • In her addresses Murmu urged graduates—especially tribal youth—to go beyond textbook learning, develop practical skills for changing labour markets, preserve indigenous knowledge, and apply education to local livelihoods.
  • The ceremonies highlighted federal investment and logistics: the Centre sanctioned about Rs. 711 crore for CUAP with Rs. 350 crore released for Phase‑I, and multi‑layered SPG and district security plans were put in place for the President’s visits.
