Prescott Praises Pickens’ Offseason Work With Contract Status Unchanged

The receiver remains on a nonexclusive franchise tag with a July 15 deadline for a long-term deal.

Overview

  • Prescott said Friday he has been working out with George Pickens and that the receiver has looked great, adding he is leaving contract talks to the front office.
  • Dallas placed the nonexclusive franchise tag on Pickens for 2026, a one-year tender worth about $27.2–$27.298 million.
  • Under NFL rules, the sides have until July 15 to reach a multiyear agreement or Pickens would play the season on the tag.
  • Until he signs, Pickens can skip voluntary team workouts without fines, and he would need to sign the tender or a participation agreement to take part.
  • Executive Stephen Jones said the Cowboys have received no trade calls on Pickens, who is coming off 93 catches, 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025.
